Mastering the Art of Resilience: How to Bounce Back from Low-Vibe Situations During Travel and Life | Day 240 of my 2023 Journal

How to bounce back from a low-vibe... Do you want to know how to do it?

Seriously, it is one of the most critical life skills our travels have taught us.

How to turn around a shitty situation to a beautiful day.

Sleeping at a construction site is a challenge most people will fail, and we are no different.

It was no fun to wake up and have to pay almost 80 pounds to cross a few hours earlier than planned; everyone was annoyed with the others, tired, hungry, in the noise.

It was time to turn it around. We kept our booking and realized there was an outstanding natural site right next to us, one we had never seen, and where we could go for a nice walk after lunch. Just as we love the beat of life. A nice walk after lunch.

So, we decided it was all good. You can always find the good in a situation and decide you are not failing.

Change plans and enjoy the adventure in the new options.

It takes practice to be able to “just decide” it is all for the best. Do practice it, then! Not just traveling life, but all life versions will give you plenty of frustrating situations, annoyance, misfortunes, and shitty situations. They all call for the positive filter: Choose to trust the process, to “just” decide it is all for the better, and turn your focus on what options are available and which of them would be most valuable to invest your time and energy in.

Sometimes, it is little things; sometimes, it is deep frustration.

In Folkstone, we could have fallen out; we could have spent stupid money and fallen out about that later. Instead, we had nature giving us blackberries, we dipped our feet in the water, hugged and smiled, and slept in the shuttle to Calais, where we picked up a friend and had perfect fries with vinegar for dinner.

With love
